Days of Thunder

1990 race car drama Days of Thunder is now best remembered as the movie on which Tom Cruise - then still with first wife Mimi Rogers - met Nicole Kidman.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein

Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson married in 1989 and appeared in four films together. However, on 1994's Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Branagh had a new on-screen love interest: Helena Bonham Carter.

Green Lantern

2011 superhero movie Green Lantern wasn't the hit the filmmakers expected, but it did achieve something of note: introducing Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively to one another.

Dream House

2011 horror movie Dream House would most likely be forgotten today were it not for the role it played in forging another Hollywood golden couples, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz.

Eyes Wide Shut

As well as being the third film Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman made together (after Days of Thunder and Far and Away), 1999's Eyes Wide Shut also soured their relationship.

However, while Hurt outwardly showed pride in Matlin, she later revealed he was very different in private, subjecting her to emotional and physical abuse. They split within two years.

Dangerous Liaisons

1988 period drama Dangerous Liaisons revolves around the affairs of French aristocrats - so perhaps its only fitting that actors Michelle Pfeiffer and John Malkovich had an affair for real.

This dalliance resulted in the collapse of Malkovich's marriage to Glenne Headly, whilst Pfeiffer was also soon divorced from Peter Horton.

The Last Picture Show

Director Peter Bogdanovich's acclaimed 1971 hit The Last Picture Show was a breakthrough film for actress Cybill Shepherd. The director and actress embarked on an affair during production.

This led to the collapse of Bogdanovich's marriage to first wife Polly Platt, which made things especially tense as Platt was also the film's production designer.

mother!

Director Darren Aronofsky began dating actress Jennifer Lawrence when she appeared in his 2017 movie Mother! Lawrence has admitted the critical fallout over the controversial film led to their split.

The Break-Up

Silence

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were a couple when they co-starred in the two Amazing Spider-Man movies, but Garfield's role in Martin Scorsese's Silence wound up sinking the relationship.

Gone Girl

Emily Ratajkowski co-starred in 2014's Gone Girl as the young mistress of Ben Affleck's character - and it's rumored the actors enjoyed a similar relationship off-camera.

House of Wax

2005 slasher movie House of Wax features Paris Hilton and Chad Michael Murray, who - standard for the genre - play horny youngsters. They didn't just do this on camera.

Murray's cheating with Hilton is said to have ended his relationship with Sophia Bush - which was awkward, as Murray and Bush played a couple on TV's One Tree Hill.

Stage Beauty

When Billy Crudup and Claire Danes played lovers in 2004's Stage Beauty, a real affair ensued - even though Crudup was spoken for.

In 2014, Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith filed for divorce, marking the end of a decades-long romance that had begun while they were both married to other people.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day

The relationship between Linda Hamilton and James Cameron ended with infidelity, and it began with it, too.

Working closely together only exacerbated existing problems, and the couple filed for divorce a few months after the movie hit theaters.

Zoolander 2

While it's never been officially confirmed, there's been a lot of speculation that the stresses of working together on Zoolander 2 pushed Ben Stiller & Christine Taylor to get divorced.

The couple announced their split less than a year after the movie was released, although they're reportedly still on good terms.

Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll

Although it was never released, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll was Marilyn Manson's predictably grotesque take on Alice in Wonderland.

Fosse/Verdon

Michelle Williams tied the knot with musician Phil Elverum in 2016, but the marriage only lasted for a few years.

Underworld

While Kate Beckinsale wasn't married when she started working on Underworld, she was in a committed relationship with Michael Sheen, with whom she had a baby.

Director Len Wiseman, on the other hand, had been married for several years. In the end, neither let their commitments hold them back, and they soon left their partners for each other.

The Last Face

If there's a lesson Sean Penn should have learned by now, it's that working with romantic partners never seems to end well for him.

Penn and Charlize Theron costarred in The Last Face in 2014, shortly after getting engaged. Production of the movie was incredibly stressful, and by the time shooting had wrapped, the relationship was done.

Layer Cake

While it wasn't the first time their relationship had been rocked by infidelity, Sienna Miller & Jude Law finally broke up after the former cheated with Daniel Craig.

The affair started while Miller and Craig were costarring in 2004's Layer Cake, with Law finding out after Miller's driver tipped him off.

Nymphomaniac

Considering Nymphomaniac boasts some of the raunchiest scenes in the history of cinema, it's no surprise that production led to some real-life liasons.

Most notable was the affair between Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth, which resulted in LaBeouf breaking off his long-term relationship with stylist Karolyn Pho.

Don't Worry Darling

When Shia LaBoeuf dropped out of 2022's Don't Worry Darling, Olivia Wilde cast Harry Styles in his place. It would prove to be a momentous decision, with dramatic ramifications.

During production, Wilde and Styles ending up falling for each other, with Wilde divorcing her husband Jason Sudeikis a few months later.

Honey Boy

Only a few years after cheating with Mia Goth on the set of Nymphomaniac, Shia LaBoeuf cheated on her while working on 2019's Honey Boy.

Woman of the Year

In 1942, Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn indulged in a fling while producing Woman of the Year, starting a messy, complicated affair that would last for 26 years.

While Tracy and his wife didn't divorce, he did move out of the family home. He also stayed romantically involved with Hepburn, who apparently was uninterested in a more stable or official relationship.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone got together after costarring in 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man, but the franchise would eventually break them up, too.

The Break-Up

In 2006, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn started dating, creating a celebrity couple that absolutely no one saw coming.

In a classic case of life imitating art, the pair split less than a year later while costarring in The Break-Up.

The Mexican

Julia Roberts was starring in 2001's The Mexican when she fell for cameraman Danny Moder. The pair began an affair, despite the fact that Roberts was in a relationship and Moder was married.

In the end, the couple decided to leave their partners and make it official, and they're still happily married today.

A Star is Born

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper gave a live performance at the 2019 Oscars, with their obvious chemistry fueling rumors they'd had an affair while filming A Star is Born.

Both stars have adamantly claimed they never became intimate, but Cooper's split from his girlfriend shortly after production wrapped has been interpreted by many as confirmation that something happened.

The Hunger Games

Although everyone involved has remained secretive about what really went down, fans have long speculated that Liam Hemsworth cheated on Miley Cyrus with Jennifer Lawrence when they costarred in The Hunger Games.

The flames of gossip were further fanned by Cyrus' record Flowers, which alludes to Hemsworth's infidelity and was released on Lawrence's birthday.

Focus

While 2015's Focus was still in production, paparazzi caught snaps of Will Smith and Margot Robbie getting very cosy indeed at a cast party.

Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett are still together, but in recent years their marriage has seemed increasingly turbulent. Coincidence? Probably, but then again, maybe not.

Dukes of Hazard

In 2020, Jessica Simpson released her memoir, finally shedding light on the reason for her divorce from singer Nick Lachey.

According to Simpson, she and Johnny Knoxville embarked on an "emotional affair" during the production of 2005's Dukes of Hazard, in which they were costarring.

The Town

Ben Affleck has something of a reputation for getting romantically entangled with his costars, so it's not particularly surprising that there was gossip of an affair with Blake Lively during production of The Town.

Although the rumors remain unsubstantiated, Affleck's ex-wife Jennifer Garner has made plenty of cryptic comments alluding to the fact that the actor has a hard time remaining faithful.

Smash

In 2012, Debra Messing divorced her husband of 16 years, director and producer Daniel Zelman. Soon after, she was seen in public with her Smash costar Will Chase, sparking rumors of an affair.

Messing has claimed that she and Zelman had already decided to split before she became entangled with Chase, but many find the timing to be suspicious.

Passengers

In 2016, Jennifer Lawrence once more found herself embroiled in a cheating scandal, this time involving her Passengers costar Chris Pratt.

Lawrence has consistently brushed off the rumors, but plenty of fans are still convinced she's the real reason Pratt and Anna Faris ended up getting divorced.

Palmer

In 2019, Justin Timberlake and his Palmer costar Alisha Wainwright were snapped holding hands and flirting on a drunken night out.

Timberlake publicly apologized to his then-pregnant wife Jessica Biel, and - while it didn't quite ruin their relationship - it undoubtedly made it pretty tense for a while.

Rebecca

When Armie Hammer divorced his wife in 2021, rumors immediately spread that Lily James was a part of the situation.

The pair had recently costarred in the romantic thriller Rebecca, prompting speculation that they'd reenacted some of the movie's racier scenes in real life.

Anyone But You

The sizzling chemistry between Glen Powell & Sydney Sweeney in 2023's Anyone But You might have been due to the fact that they weren't faking their emotions.

Although both actors laughed off rumors of an affair, it seems more than a little coincidental that Powell split from his girlfriend just after production wrapped.

Morocco

Early silver screen icons Gary Cooper and Marlene Dietrich co-starred in 1930's Morocco, and got a little too close off-camera - whilst Cooper was already seeing Lupe Velez.

It's no understatement to say Velez took this personally, as not long thereafter she unsuccessfully tried to shoot Cooper as he climbed aboard a train.

Stromboli

Ingrid Bergman and director Roberto Rossellini were both married when they began an affair on 1950's Stromboli, and she was soon pregnant with his child.

The ensuing scandal almost killed her career, but Bergman eventually bounced back, and their child Isabella Rossellini became a star in her own right.

Right Now, Wrong Then

Korean filmmaker Hong Sang-Soo had been married for more than 30 years when he had an affair with actress Kim Min Hee whilst filming 2015's Right Now, Wrong Then.

Scandal ensued, and Kim Min Hee bore the brunt of this. Her career significantly suffered as job offers dried up.

State of Grace

Gary Oldman had been married to fellow British actor Lesley Manville since 1987 when he made State of Grace - where he met director Phil Joanou's then-girlfriend, Uma Thurman.

Soon thereafter, Manville and Oldman/Joanou and Thurman were history, and Oldman and Thurman were hitched. They divorced within two years, and Oldman is currently on his fifth wife.

Nine Months

Hugh Grant knew his 1995 comedy Nine Months was bad, and doomed to flop. Weeks before the film's release, the actor felt despondent, got drunk, and made some bad decisions.

Net result: Grant was arrested after being caught in public with a prostitute. While his then-fiancé Elizabeth Hurley publicly forgave him, this soured the relationship and they split in 2000.
