Jet Set: A Reclaimed Aircraft was Converted into a 2 Bedroom Apartment

Not sure about you, but whenever I think of an airliner, my first thought is cramped space. There’s a narrow aisle to walk in, lots of folks to tiptoe around – all under the attentive eye of a flight attendant. This aircraft might look very similar on the outside, but wait until you see the inside!
Airline KLM renovated this McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft into a luxurious 3,940 square foot apartment!
Styled with vintage furnishings, a king-sized bed, a second bedroom, 2 kitchens and 8 bathrooms…this is a far cry from economy class! (We’re still not sure why there are 8 bathrooms.)
The views from Schiphol airport are easily accessible through any of the 116 windows aboard the jet.
The apartment is temporarily available to the public as part of an Air Bed and Breakfast contest. Another option to consider is the Jumbo Hostel, another reclaimed aircraft project with 25 rooms for $45 per night. Enjoy your “flight”!
